dilemma!

from inside am-lul's closet...her shoes are marni. i've been searching for a (much) cheaper version of these for a long time, to no avail.

if you can see alexa's platforms here, that's another example of what i want. any suggestions or ideas??

baking (and more!)

i had a show last night at a venue i've been wanting to play for a looong time. it was great! we all dressed up and played so well, to a big audience (well, big for us..meaning 30 people). follow my band on twitter.

this is us before the show. aren't we gorgeous?

the other day, i made these amazing nutella cupcakes. i highly recommend making them. here's the recipe:

Self Frosted Nutella Cupcakes

10 tbsp butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
3 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 tsp vanilla essense
1 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
Nutella, 12 teaspoons. (1 teaspoon for each cupcakes)

Preheat oven to 325F. Line 12 muffin tins with paper liners.

Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add in eggs one at a time, until fully incorporated. Don’t worry if the batter doesn’t look smooth. Add vanilla. Stir in flour, salt and baking powder until batter is uniform and no flour remains.

Using an ice cream scoop or spoon , fill each muffin liner with batter. They should be 3/4 full, if you’re not using a scoop. Top each cake with 1 heaping teaspoon of Nutella. Swirl Nutella in with a toothpick, making sure to fold a bit of batter up over the nutella.

Bake for 20 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.

Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

Makes 12 delicious cupcakes.

and here's some pictures of my experience with them:

they obviously turned out really well.

from the clothes horse, this, knight cat, the dream walking society, and the sart...and julian's solo album, which i have to say i'm excited about even though i miss los estrokes all together.

i got back from turkey a few days ago, and it looks like i've acquired some type of bug or something. oh well, it gives me an excuse to sleep all day. and it's summer-i'm just glad i have the ability to rest this much. turkey was beautiful and so lovely. i wish i was still there. unfortunately i don't have many pictures because our camera ran out of battery, and we were so busy shopping that we forgot to take pictures, hahaha.

you know how relationships often dwindle for the sole reason that one or both of the people think the other has changed for the worse? i don't know much at all about that situation, but i've determined that change is completely unavoidable; everyone changes, and whether it's for the worse is often a matter of opinion. i mean, you can't expect a person to stay the same over the years. i don't know, i'm just thinking aloud. i'm probably completely wrong. thoughts?

i saw 500 days of summer today...it's such a cute, lovely movie. don't you just love when you catch semi-obscure "indie" culture quips in movies like this? i do.

hope you've all had a good week!

i'm in istanbul right this very second. it's gorgeous. so is my grandparents' apartment. i love this city! it's not greece, of course, but it's still lovely. i have awful jet-lag, but i don't even care-to look out on the city is good enough for me.

the flight over here was nothing short of hell..two straight days of traveling (i left my house in dallas at noon and arrived at my grandparents' apartment in istanbul at 2:30 AM the next day), with very little sleep and a 9 hour layover at heathrow..blehh. apparently i can't do the whole "romantic" backpacking-across-europe thing, i would die during the first three days. so anyway, this traveling brought on some weird dreams (when i did sleep). i had a dream of a photoshoot; it was a really dark street scene where the brightest thing were the clothes-not the models, even, just the clothes. everything else was kind of fuzzy. and the clothes were really classy...white pencil skirts with white leather belts and loose black tank tops, with black chanel quilted purses and white patent leather booties.. and white tuxedos and messy hair and white oxfords. it was weird.

i'm listening to the divine comedy right now (thank you mac). amazing.

sorry for the quick update. i'll post more soon, i promise!
